Play dates with Grandma Louise

Jonny's grandma, Louise Smith, lives just 20 minutes away from us in Thousand Oaks. It's a treat for us to come play at her house. The minute Harrison gets into those doors, he searches for grandma's cane and then continues to walk around the house with it. I love talking with grandma about her growing up years in Ohio (pronounced "Ohiyaw"), conservative issues (she is very on top of the news!), and funny/embarrassing stories she can tell me about Rick (Jonny's dad)!

General Conference with a baby

Jonny and I were able to worship from home this past weekend and enjoy the semiannual LDS General Conference. We got to hear from our Church leaders during this time and receive prophetic counsel about families, repentance, happiness, Jesus Christ, and missionary work. In order to keep Harrison happy, we pulled out our mattress onto the family room floor. This pseudo-trampoline kept him, and us, very happy indeed. Here is Harrison watching Elder Oaks intently. He thought it was grandpa and kept on waving with both hands saying, "Pa."

The couch proved a suitable launching pad for jumping onto the mattress.

Jonny and I got in on the fun too.

We then dared Harrison to jump with his eyes closed.

I think someone is peeking!

Weekly fun

Baby wakes up from nap.
Mommy takes baby to couch.
They snuggle.
Or they make a blanket fort.

One Saturday dad needed to study.
So, mom put Harrison in the hiking backpack.
Malibu Creek State Park beckoned.
The baby in the box clearly was asking for a kiss.
Clearly.

Will felt the need to hold something too, but there wasn't an extra baby sitting around.
A dinosaur did the trick.

Harrison LOVES to jump on the bed.

Someone loves his reading chair

We inherited a little reading chair from a family in our ward.
The second I brought it into the apartment, he knew exactly what to do.

Easter 2013

We spent our weekend in Newport. This was the last Easter in my parent's house because they are moving in June. So, we took advantage of our Newport time and played with the Wallys at Eliza's soccer game. Grandpa is a jungle gym.

Eliza going through her tunnel (she scored five goals in the game).
These two are best buds. Between the third and fourth quarter, Harrison ran onto the field to hug and kiss Eliza.

We spent some time at the Wally's house and Harrison loved his slide time with Anna. That girl is a little momma. Love it.

Easter Sunday was wonderful. We enjoyed Church together at my parent's ward and learned more about the resurrection of Jesus Christ. How wondrous that first Easter morning must of been. Harrison thoroughly enjoyed his first Easter egg hunt. Here he is surveying the hunt.

He loved the eggs! He found them particularly exciting to throw.

Here is proof of his egg hunting.

We had dinner with some nice people in my parent's ward.

The next two days were spent at the beach!
So, my parents are moving to Utah. What? I know. Crazy. My dad sold his private practice of 28 years and Sunday, March 31 was the last day he was on call, EVER. We celebrated by going to San Onofre the next day so he could surf for the first time without worrying if the hospital was going to call!
Here is proof:

The waves weren't breaking huge that day, but he found a nice ride.

Harrison enjoyed watching from the beach.

Happy dad

We then spent the next day at the beach with the Whitney/Jane Clayton cousins and the Wallys. So fun.

The sand didn't agree with his mouth very much. Did he put another fist full into his mouth a minute later? Of course!

Killing Time at Target

Target provides lots of distractions for a toddler. This kid found a hat in the children's clothing section and then proceeded to the aisle with humongous TV screens.

Then we spent some time chasing each other with our lime green wheelbarrows stuffed with balls.

Making friends at the park

We were at a new park last week and Harrison met some new friends! He kept watching this group of older kids and decided to invite himself over there to play. Pretty soon he was holding hands with his new nine-year old friend Omar.

Then they started making a sand birthday cake for Harrison, complete with the singing of "Happy Birthday." They were loving this little toddler who had the gumption to play with the big kids.
